Angola and Botswana have been studying the possibility of creating a Bilateral Cooperation Commission to boost diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The countries are seeking to increase and expand their relations, which date back to 1975 and General Cooperation Agreement in force since 2006.

Angola and Botswana are involved in the cross-border tourism project Okavango / Zambezi, also shared with Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe, in an area of 278,000 square kilometers for the common practice of ecotourism.

The regional project is intended, among other advantages, to preserve and make shared management of natural resources.

Botswana has the second largest portion of the project with 87,000 square kilometers, after Zambia (97,000 square kilometers).
