He was 63.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila in a media statement on Tuesday said Dr Ankama served the country in different capacities, having worked not only as an educator and public office nearer, but also as a freedom fighter who actively participated in the struggle for Namibia’s independence inside the country.

She said throughout his service to the Namibian people, Ankama displayed the highest level of commitment and dedication, and served as deputy minister in the Office of the Prime Minister from 2018 until 21 March 2020, while also serving as Deputy Minister of Works and Transport as well as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources between 2009 and 2012.

‘He will be remembered for the commitment and professionalism with which he dealt with the tasks assigned to him. His legacy of hard work will always be remembered by all of us who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. On behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister and on behalf of my family, I wish to express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. We wish them the strength and courage to bear this tragic loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace,’ said the Premier.
