Public debates must reflect our urgent priorities

After the last extra-ordinary congress of the ruling party in June this year, the country’s politics seems to have returned to normality. The public conversations preceding that congress had the potential to undermine the legitimacy of those who where duly elected at last year’s congress. More worrying, the divisions and open questioning by the Swapo Party Youth League was about to dilute the message of the ruling party, in particular its presidential candidate in next year’s presidential elections.
