Public schools to close on 22 November

The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture has announced that government schools will close on the 22 November 2019, a week earlier than scheduled as per the school calendar, due to the national elections programmed to take place on 27 November 2019.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the ministry said schools management has been advised to make the necessary internal arrangements to compensate for the lost time with the support of inspectors of education in their respective regions.

The statement noted that boarding schools will also close on the same day (22 November), while teachers will report for their last duty on 26 November 2019.

On same note, school management have been reminded of the National Clean-up Campaign scheduled to take place on 20 September 2019 and should ensure that all learners and teachers participate in effort to clean schools and hostels.

All schools are obliged to carry out regular general school grounds cleaning as well as daily classroom and ablution blocks. A clean environment is essential for conducive learning atmosphere, it noted.
