Registration for 2014 Swakopmunder Musikwoche Kicks Off

Registration for the annual Swakopmunder Musikwoche taking place during the December holiday season in Swakopmund has started.

Traditionally, the registration for this event begins at the start of the Musikwoche. This year registration for the event, taking place between 12 and 21 December 2014, has already started and the last day of registration will be 20 November 2014.

Registration can be done via the website www.musikwoche.com or via an entry form which can be requested from the organisers by sending an email to info@musikwoche.com.

The organisation will also be present at the Windhoek Show in September and participants are invited to come meet some of the musicians and complete their entry forms at the stall.

As the participant numbers keep growing every year, there will unfortunately be no ‘Stomp!’ group for young beginners this year. Younger participants may still register for the junior orchestra, the recorder ensemble (for the first time this year with afternoon lectures for the aanced players), the jazz band, the concert band, the grand orchestra or the choir.

This year excellent lecturers have agreed to join the Swakopmunder Musikwoche with Alexander Fokkens (South Africa) and Hans-Jochen Stiefel conducting the choir. The junior orchestra will be in the expert hands of Irene Schultz-Neumann. Both Irene and Hans-Jochen are from Germany. Due to the increasing demand, five lecturers were appointed for the brass and concert band this year. The director for brass is Dr Eric McIntyre from America and the concert band will be in the capable hands of Johann Pretorius (SA).

Amongst others, Hans-Peter Drobisch (woodwinds), Danreacute Strydom (clarinets), Michelle du Preez (oboes) and Steven Meier (America) will be taking the jazz band and saxophones to new heights.
