Rehoboth Town Council appoints new CEO

Simeon Kanime was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Rehoboth Town Council (RTC) effective from 01st August after he was the top performer during interviews held earlier this year.

Urban and Rural Development ministerial representative at the RTC, Nathalia |GAagoses confirmed the appointment and said Kanime started on Monday and said after a long struggle to appoint a CEO RTC finally have someone capable who has experience in land management and properties..

We advertised the position twice and truly struggled to appoint someone. Maybe the salary offered is small that's why it took so long to appoint someone, |GAagoses said.

RTC has been without a CEO after Christoph |Uirab was shown the door following his notice to the municipality of his intention to resign in November last year.

|Uirab tendered his resignation to the council on 20 June last year, effective end of November 2018. However, the council responded on 13 July last year, informing him they accept his resignation with 30 days' notice, starting the day he handed in his resignation.

Since then RTC's Technical Division's head, Ernst De Waal and previous action CEO, Johannes Ipinge took turns to act in the position until Kanime's appointment.
