Retired police officer Martin Kandembenge died in a road accident

A retired police officer Martin Kandembenge died in a road accident when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned in the Oshigambo area of the Oshikoto Region this week.

Inspector Ellen Nehale of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Public Relations Unit in the region confirmed to Nampa today that the incident happened on Wednesday at around 20h00.

He explained that Kandembenge, 60, was rushed to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital where he died upon arrival and was the owner of the vehicle, a white Toyota pick-up allegedly driven by an unlicensed driver at the time of the accident.

The 47-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Onandjokwe Hospital in a serious condition, Nehale said.

The two were travelling from Oshigambo heading to Oshakati when the driver lost control over the vehicle and overturned it.
