The Road Fund Administration (RFA) on Tuesday handed over N.dollars 600 000 to the Oshana, Ohangwena and Omusati Regional councils, earmarked for the flood relief efforts in these localities.

According to media statement availed to Nampa on Wednesday, RFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ali Ipinge, officiated the ceremonial handing over of the sponsorship held in Oshakati.

The N.dollars 600,000 is to be divided equally at N.dollars 200 000 per region and will be managed through the regional councils.

“The devastation caused by the flood is a common concern to the RFA and as a public entity entrusted with funding and the upkeep of our national and urban road infrastructure, we bear a moral and social responsibility to support communities impacted by these disasters,” said Ipinge.

Ipinge emphasised that the donations might not be sufficient, but will certainly lend a helping hand to put a meal on the table or obtain shelter for the flood victims.

“As we are all aware, flood waters disrupted the livelihoods of these communities by displacing and damaging their subsistence crops, as well as derailing education due to closed schools and damaged roads,” noted Ipinge.

RFA over the past six years has carried out corporate social investments of over N.dollars 15 million to projects and programs in the areas of water, sanitation, education and training, as well as youth sports development across the country.
