Samaria announces match-day squad for Comoros clash

Brave Warriors interim coach Bobby Samaria named his match-day squad to face Comoros Island on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in the second leg of the in the 2020 African Nations Championship (Chan) Qualifiers.

The Brave Warriors go into second leg leading 2-0, following the team's impressive win away from home last Friday.

A statement availed to Nampa on Friday said a victory for the Brave Warriors will take them over the line and into the final round of the qualifiers to face either Mozambique or Madagascar and Samaria have one notable change to the squad that traveled to Moroni last week with Black Africa prolific striker McCartney Naweseb making the final list with Young Brazilians Revered Matroos dropping out while number one goalkeeper Ratanda Mbazuvara retains his position.

It further said a decision on his understudy will be made today between Charles Uirab of University of Namibia Football Club and Kamaijanda Ndisiro of Black Africa.

Samaria in the statement said the boys are pushing very hard and it can be seen in the goalkeeping department as it is not easy to get a number two at the moment.

This country is blessed with very good goalkeepers and the same goes for outfield players. We have so many but we can only chose a few. McCartney was out last week and he fought well to be back in and that gives me pleasure to have players are committed like that, Samaria said.

Samaria also clarified that players such as Petrus Shitembi and Virgil Vries have been training with the team as national team players while they sort out their professional contracts outside Namibia, with one eye on future matches.

Remember we have Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers later this year as well, and if the players wants to train, we should accommodate them because they are the backbone of the national team and that does not mean they will feature for Chan until such time that they are registered locally, Samaria was quoted as saying.

The Brave Warriors for Comoros clash on Sunday are Mbazuvara, Kamaijanda, Ndisiro, Uirab, Ivan Kamberipa, Obrey Amseb, Marcel Papama, Gustav Isaak, Larry Horaeb, Junias Theophilus, Aprocious Petrus, Immanuel Heita, Dynamo Fredericks (Captain), Vitapi Ngaruka, Emilio Martin, Wendell Rudath, Llewelyn Stanley, Absalom Iimbondi, Gregory Aukumeb, Isaskar Gurirab, Elmo Kambindu and Naweseb.
