SchwAbisch Hall donates to JG Van Der Wath Secondary School

Germany has donated N. dollars 200 000 to the JG Van Der Wath Secondary School in the Otjozondjupa Region.

Honorary Deputy Major of Schwabich Hall in Germany, Rudiger Schorpp handed over the N. dollars 200 000 cheque donation here on Monday on behalf of his town council.

The money will be used to rebuild an entire block of five classrooms destroyed in a fire outbreak on 07 June.

Rudiger said the donation is a testimony to the cordial relationship between Germany and Namibia, more specifically between the two town councils of Okahandja and Schwabisch Hall.

He said the relationship was established by Okahandja Major, Congo Hindjou when he was in Germany in September on an official visit.

He noted that with this donation they hope to restore part of what was destroyed in hopes of the school reaching its full potential for all learners to have a bright future.

Additionally, the two councils are in an agreed partnership through climate change under the urgency of global engagement.

Meanwhile, in his acceptance speech, JG Van Der Wath School principal, Robert Williams thanked everyone involved with the pledges they school received so far.

The school principal called upon members of the community to support the fundraising campaign the high school started with in order to have these blocks of classrooms ready for the 2020 academic year.

JG Van Der Wath Secondary School was established in 1821 in the Otjozondjupa Region.

The school has 26 teachers, 690 learners from grade 8 to 12, two administrative workers and five cleaners.
