Second SASSCAL ministerial meeting taking place Thursday

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in collaboration with Southern African Science Service Center for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) will host the second SASSCAL Ministerial Meeting to discuss challenges of global change.

A statement issued on Tuesday by SASSCAL said the event will be held from 26 September 2019 in Windhoek, under the theme International Partnership for Climate Action and it will focus on integrated regional service delivery, scientific knowledge products, services and capacity building on climate change and adaptive land management.

It will bring together SADC Ministers responsible for SASSCAL and the German Federal, Ministry of Education and Research to sign the SASSCAL Treaty and Joint Declaration, Inaugurate the SASSCAL council of Ministers Deliberate on the SASSCAL Treaty and Joint Declaration and approve a roadmap towards its practical implementation, reads the statement.

It added that the meeting will also look at all instruments that required approval to transform SASSCAL to an International Organisation to provide an opportunity for the Ministers and their delegates to network and reflect on climate change challenges in the region for a united climate Action.

SASSCAL is a product of a partnership between Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Germany.
