Senior traffic officer in Otjozondjupa dies in motorbike accident

A senior traffic officer of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region died Monday afternoon after his official police motorbike he was operating overturned several times on B1 road outside Otjiwarongo.

Otjozondjupa Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze in an interview with Nampa at the accident scene said the traffic officer died on official duty as he was coming from attending a meeting in line with his work at a farm situated between Otjiwarongo and Otavi.

He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, said Tjiveze.

It is alleged the traffic officer lost control over a police motorbike which caused it to roll several times some 35 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo at about 155 on Monday afternoon.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
