Seven injured in road accident at Adolf location

Several passengers and their drivers escaped with injuries when a severe head-on collision took place between two vehicles near Adolf settlement on the Ondangwa-Ongwediva main road in the Oshana Region on Friday.

Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Public Relations Unit in the region confirmed that all seven occupants of the two vehicles sustained only injuries and no death was recorded.

All passengers and drivers went to Oshakati state hospital for medical attention and they are all in stable condition, Aiyambo narrated.

He explained a Jaguar sedan with registration plat number N165124W and a Toyota double cab pick-up registered as N200415W involved in the accident.

The driver of the Jaguar, with only one passenger, travelled from Ondangwa side and the pick-up driver, along with four passengers, travelled from Ongwediva towards Ondangwa when their vehicles collided head-on around 20h00.

Aiyambo indicated that the Police at Ongwediva have opened a reckless and/or negligent driving case docket in connection with the accident as per CR 193/08/2019.

Police investigation into the matter is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Aiyambo has also reported of a theft under false pretence after 30-year-old complainant was allegedly conned in a fake diamond deal, worth N.dollars 31 450.

He said the incident took place also on Friday around 14h36 next to Ondangwa Fire Station. Suspect is unknown and no arrest is made, Aiyambo pointed out, adding that a CR 209/08/19 has been opened at OndangwaNamPol station in connection with the incident.
