Seven Rape Cases Reported

A 44-YEAR-OLD and a 20-year-old mentally challenged woman are among the seven people who were raped over the weekend.

This was revealed by police spokesperson Stephan Nuuyi yesterday in Windhoek.

According to Nuuyi, the 44-year-old woman was raped by an Angolan cattle herder at Oshongwe village on Thursday.

The incident allegedly took place when the suspect went to the victim’s house and called her to come outside to confront her for allegedly insulting him at a cuca shop earlier that day.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, and raped her before running away. Police say he is yet to be arrested.

The mentally challenged woman was raped by two men on different occasions – one of them her uncle. On Thursday, her uncle allegedly forced her into a bedroom and then raped her.

The second suspect similarly pulled the victim to his bedroom where he raped her as well. While the victim’s uncle is still on the run, the second man was arrested. Police also said a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her aunt’s 30-year-old husband.

The suspect allegedly dragged the girl from the kitchen into her bedroom and raped her before fleeing from the scene. He is still at large.

A seven-year-old girl was also allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy on 30 August.

The suspect is said to have lured the girl into a hut where he raped her. He was arrested.

On the same day at Etendalangha, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly given over by her aunt’s husband to a 43-year-old truck driver, who later raped her. Both the girl’s uncle and the suspect were arrested.

In Kunene region, at Okanguati, a 16-year-old boy raped his 13-year-old cousin on Friday evening. The teenager was arrested.
