Seven-year-old girl’s body retrieved from well at Onankulo village

The body of a seven-year-old girl was reportedly retrieved from a well at Onankulo village on Friday, the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) weekend serious crimes report indicates.

The report issued on Sunday indicates that the remains of the girl, identified as Melanie Paulus, were retrieved from the well.

It is alleged that the deceased was with other children and went to the well to fetch water when she slipped and fell into the well.

In a separate incident, the body of a 52-year-old woman identified as Beata Shimpulu, was found in her bedroom at Oshendje-Elombo village in the Onayena district on Friday. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of the death.

The report further indicated that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly threatened and raped by an unknown male suspect at Otjomuise in Windhoek on Friday.

In another incident, a 15-year-old girl was reportedly raped at a village near the Oniipa area in the Onayena district on Friday.

“The girl was raped by a male suspect who is a neighbour to the victim. The suspect was arrested,” added the report.
