Several airports around the country under the management of the Namibia Airports Company operate without licences: Bisey /Uirab

Several airports around the country under the management of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) are operating without licences due to not meeting certain international requirements for the granting of operating licences.

This was said by NAC Chief Executive Officer Bisey /Uirab here yesterday when he appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economics and Public Administration.

He was accompanied by several Air Namibia senior officials responsible for various airports around the country.

/Uirab said there were plans underway to issue licences to the unlicensed airports, which are Eros Airport in the capital, Luderitz Airport and several regional airports including at KatimaMulilo, Rundu and Keetmanshoop.

He said these airports did not meet the international licencing requirements as they were beset by issues such as infrastructure that needed improvement and insufficient working personnel, among others.
