Shintama calls for caution over fires

Omusati regional councillor for Ruacana Constituency, Andreas Shintama is warning his constituencies members and nearby constituencies to be mindful of the use of fire as the strong wind in the area cause houses to burn down.

In an interview with NAMPA on Monday, Shintama said there are three houses that were burnt down in his constituency due to the strong wind that is being experienced in the area.

He said the said this strong wind has been going on for some times now, adding that he is not sure of when it will stop.

Some of the people whose houses were burnt have lost their mahangu grain storages, clothes, sleeping quarters and other useful belongings, he said.

The councillor therefore urged all the community members to take all the necessary precaution for as long as the wind is still strong, to ensure that there is no further report of houses getting burnt and loss of property through fire.
