Kavango west: Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo launched a fruit tree planting campaign and creative industries awareness programme in the Ncamagoro Constituency on Tuesday. The 11-day campaign covers all constituencies in the region, promoting food security while strengthening the region’s creative economy through talent identification and database registration.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Sinimbo emphasized that development “does not come from outside,” urging the community to begin with themselves by planting seeds, utilizing talents, and committing to their future. The fruit tree planting campaign aims to ensure food security, nutrition, shade, income, and a sustainable future, leveraging the area’s fertile soil and community spirit.
The initiative also includes a focus on the region’s creative industries. Officials are registering local artists, carpenters, designers, storytellers, tailors, musicians, and creative innovators in a comprehensive database. Sinimbo highlighted the economic potential of these talents and called for collaboration to support governmental efforts.
Sinimbo stated, “This is not my campaign. It is not the government’s campaign. It is our campaign. Our project. Our future. When we plant together, we feed together. When we create together, we rise together. When we believe in ourselves, nothing is impossible for the Kavango West Region.” The campaign, which started on Tuesday, is set to conclude on 21 November 2025.
