Six arrested for dealing in illegal drugs

A 42-year-old man from Karasburg in the ||Kharas Region was arrested on Thursday for allegedly being found with drugs and N.dollars 12 866 in cash.

A Namibian Police Force crime report for 25 to 28 August 2022 said the suspect was arrested at a house in Westerkim residential area at about 18h36 in possession of 107 ballies of skunk cannabis, one large bag full of skunk cannabis, two full Mandrax tablets, 19 quarter Mandrax tablets plus the cash.

“All items were seized and the value of the drugs is still to be determined,” said the report.

Similarly, a 32-year-old man from Kaguni village in Kavango East was arrested on Thursday at about 12h00 for allegedly being found in possession of cannabis seeds valued at N.dollars 50.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In Opuwo in the Kunene Region, a 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday during a police search for allegedly being in possession of 17 ballies of cannabis and two parcels of cannabis.

The report said the suspect was arrested at about 16h13 at Okapupona residential area, adding that the value of the drugs is not determined yet and the suspect will appear at Opuwo Magistrate’s court on Monday.

Another suspect, a 44-year-old man from Ombombo village in Opuwo was arrested on Friday at about 21h00 for allegedly being found in possession of cannabis during a police search.

The suspect was also expected to appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In the Khomas Region, a suspect, age unknown, was allegedly found in possession of 142 cannabis ballies, 30 full Mandrax tablets, three half Mandrax tablets – of which the value is not yet determined.

The suspect was found at a house on Thursday at about 13h00, however fled the scene.

“Suspect was not arrested as he fled from the scene but is known and investigation is ongoing,” it said.

In a similar crime, a 42-year-old man from Oshakati in the Oshana Region was arrested on Thursday at around 21h20 at a bar after he was found with cannabis valued at N.dollars 100.
