Skorpion U/17 Cup record 12 goals in opening five games

Erongo region defeated their Otjozondjupa counterparts 2-0 in a highly entertaining opening match of the 2019 Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup at the Sam Nujoma Stadium earlier today.

Rayven Nehale scored the opening goal of the tournament after receiving a free pass from Herman Uwuseb. Both teams created half chances but failed to convert them and went to the break, after 30 minutes, with the score line reading 1-0 in favour of Erongo. Erongo region's talented forward Rayven Nehale scored yet another goal a couple of minutes before the match ended.

Nelito Da Costa from the Otjozondjupa Region received the first Red Card of the tournament and The Man of the Match was awarded to Rayven Nehale the match ended 2-0 in favour of the Erongo Region.

The second match of the day saw Zambezi take on Kunene and a goal from Mike Mwiya secured a win for the Zambezi region. Zambezi region gloves man, Johaness Machille was named man of the match and the game ended 1-0 in favour of Zambezi.

Defending Champions Karas Region lost out their first game when Johannes Maseka from the Kavango East Region tapped in an easy goal after the Zambezi defenders failed to clear a cross in their 18 yard box. Dillen Haimbondi from the Kavango East Region scooped the Man of the Match trophy that comes along with N$200.

The Omaheke Region proved that they are forced to be reckoned with this year. The team lost at last years edition to Karas in Grootfontein at the final round. The team came back stronger when they defeated the Hardap region 2-0. Both goals were scored during the first half and Usiel Kandorozu scored the first goal and walked away with the Man of the Match award. The second goal was scored by Kasora Kapuoo.

Alberto De Soussa from the Oshikoto Region had the crowd screaming for more when he recorded the first hatrick of the tournament. De Soussa scored the first goal within 20 seconds of the game, the other two goals followed shortly before half time. The talented striker came back with more goals after second half, netting in two more goals for his side. Oshikoto defeated Omusati 5-1. The goal from Omusati was scored by Diogenus Nakasole. Alberto De Soussa was Man of the Match.
