Soldier Faces Court Over Alleged Drug Possession in Okahandja

Okahandja: A member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is set to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly dealing and/or possessing cannabis valued at N.dollars 48,000. The arrest took place at a shopping mall in the town on Sunday morning.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, stated that the 30-year-old male soldier was apprehended after the police received a tip-off regarding alleged illegal drug activities.



‘A team of police officers was dispatched to the shopping mall at about 10h30 on Sunday morning, and upon arrival, it was discovered the suspect was allegedly dealing in skunk,’ said Mbeha. The authorities confiscated 960 grams of cannabis, with an estimated street value of N.dollars 48,000, from the suspect at the mall.



The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
