South African national dies in road accident near Karasburg

A 35-year-old South African man died instantly on Friday morning after he allegedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it overturned on the C37 road of Hobas.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s weekend crime report issued on Sunday indicates that the deceased has been identified as Muhammad Zubair and his next of kin were informed of his death.

In other two separate incidents, the police statement noted that two male suspects aged 21 and 23 years in Soweto residential area in Windhoek, were arrested on Saturday at about 13h00 after they were found in possession of 90 big parcels of cannabis weighing 810 grams.

The statement indicated that the police acted on a tip off from some members of the general public about these two suspects, who had just received the alleged cannabis stock.

The two suspects were arrested and charged for dealing and/or possession of drugs, and their alleged cannabis had an estimated value of N.dollars 40 500.

The two are expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

At Okandjengeni location in Oshakati, a 40-year-old man was also arrested on Friday after he was found with a total of 52 units of crack cocaine with an estimated value of N.dollars 6 700.

“We arrested him after we received a tip off from a police informant,” said the statement.

The suspect has been charged for possession and/or dealing in crack cocaine and will appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations in the three cases continue.
