Spanish tourists survive accident on Tsumkwe gravel road

Five tourists from Spain on Monday survived an accident after a Toyota Land Cruiser double cab they were travelling in overturned several times before landing on its roof on the Tsumkwe-Grootfontein gravel road.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Tuesday said the accident occurred at approximately 11h50 on Monday morning when a 35-year-old female driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle on the gravel road.

The five tourists included two males and three females aged 35 (driver), two 38 years, 39, and 40-years-old.

The Spanish tourists were all coming from direction of Tsumkwe towards Grootfontein at the time of accident, Mbeha said.

Mbeha added that one of them (tourists) who is a medical doctor in Spain had certified to the police at the accident scene that they were all fine.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
