Spinny and the Green Kids’ Sixth CD Launches in the City

After mesmerizing the Zambezi Region’s local music scene with his 2011 album Blood of Heroes, which had hits like Haiwe Chelete, Region One, Siwewe and Namibian Police, one of the Zambezi region’s top selling musicians, Spinny and The Green Kids, will be launching their sixth album, Kulilabule, next Saturday at King Lounge at Chez Ntemba nightclub Windhoek.

Kulilabule which was recorded at his traditional Aluyana Production studios in the neighbourhood town of Sesheke, Zambia, is already enjoying massive airplay on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)’s Silozi, Rukwangali radio language services as well as being popular in many shebeens in Katima Mulilo and Rundu. The songs enjoying rave reviews include Bakomana, Kanamundame, Kalilabule, Juliana, Banishongela mwana, Progress Sipapela, Chiyo a remix, Sinalumbu and Musindikizi. The hit song from this nine track album is the third song, Kalilabule literally meaning the whistle blower. “We expect all the music lovers to come and support the album as it is dedicated to all his fans scattered in all Namibian regions. The launch will be in Windhoek on the 30th August at the King Lounge at Chez Ntemba VIP next to Wernhill Park. For the launch in Katima Mulilo some two weeks ago, there was traditional beer called ‘Sikotini’ for free to all fans,” says the spokesperson of King Lounge, Sylvester Simubal.

The latest album centres on love, life stories and aice. Simubal is however too quick to reveal that “some songs are comforting while in other songs he is playing an aisory role as a parent and guardian to some of the people in the Zambezi region.” After releasing his Blood of Heroes in 2011, Spinny and the Green Kids have become one of the best selling groups and it has propelled his music career, winning him some awards organized by the Katima Mulilo Town council (KMTC).

Other popular songs that made him a household name in the Zambezi Region include Namibian Police, and Region One, Haiwe Chelete literally meaning Give them money and the musician is confident that the album new album will surpass their previous five releases. Entrance for the launch is N $ 70 at the gate and security will be tight.
