The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) secretary for the Kavango West Region, Bonifatius Muronga, who was on Tuesday arrested for alleged bribery and theft under false pretences, made his first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Muronga, who is charged with 16 counts of fraud, appeared before Magistrate Sonia Sampofu.
According to a police charge sheet, the accused allegedly obtained a total of N.dollars 95 000 under false pretences over a period of time from the complainant, a private individual.
Muronga, 34, on Wednesday was first granted bail of N.dollars 15 000 but this was reduced to N.dollars 8 000 after he informed the court that he is the main breadwinner of his family and that both his parents are deceased.
His case was postponed to 29 September 2022 for further investigation.
The State was represented by prosecutor Michael Minima.
