New zealand: New Zealand’s new home consents rose 1 percent to 33,979 in the year to June 2025, marking a modest rebound, according to the statistics department Stats NZ on Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the growth, the first annual rise in two years, was fueled by a 6.3 percent increase in stand-alone house approvals to 15,858 units, Stats NZ said.
In contrast, approvals for multi-unit dwellings fell 3.2 percent to 18,121, with townhouses, flats and units down 5.3 percent to 14,361, apartments up 12 percent to 2,178, and retirement village units slightly down 1.1 percent to 1,582, it said.
Auckland, the country’s largest city, led housing activity with 14,295 new home approvals, up 3.2 percent and reversing a decline since early 2023.
