Stars to face Rollers in ACL preps
Fresh from revealing their new Ghanaian coach Mohammed Gargo, African Stars Football Club have confirmed an international friendly against Township Rollers of Botswana.
This was confirmed to Nampa on Friday by Stars Executive Director SalomoHei, who said the match against Rollers is scheduled for Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday 03 December.
The match will be preparations for the African Champions League (ACL) preliminary round the following week against Uganda's Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
They (Rollers) are perennial ACL participants, and they have also played against our opponents KCCA. So with this friendly, we are hoping to exchange notes and maybe get a DVD (digital versatile disc) of the two matches between them so as to plan properly for them, Hei said.
Hei said their aim is to reach the group stages of this year's competition, hence the decision to bring in an experienced coach, as well as arranging a high profile match against their Botswana counterparts, who are also preparing for the same competition.
Stars have been busy preparing for the ACL in all fronts as evidenced by the acquisition of several new players, including RakotonanaharySoloniana of Madagascar and IbounayimineSoulimana from Comoros.
African Stars will face KCCA Football Club of Uganda in the Confederation of African Football Champions League 2019/20 preliminary rounds.
The first leg of the contest takes place over the weekend of 09 to 11 August 2019 in Windhoek.
Meanwhile Stars have also release their 25 man squad for the continental assignment.
