‘Struggle Kids’ Arrested

Five children of exiled liberation struggle fighters also known as ‘struggle kids’ were arrested at 06h00 on Saturday after the police special reserve force raided their camp in Windhoek’s Okahandja Park informal settlement.

Police Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga confirmed giving the orders to arrest one of the ‘struggle kids’ in connection with a crime allegedly committed on Friday night.

Ndeitunga added that a man was arrested on Friday night but a group of about 20 fellow ‘struggle kids’ stormed the Katutura police station and forcefully removed their friend from the charge office.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after Prime Minister Hage Geingob announced that Ombudsman John Walters will investigate the shooting dead of 26-year-old ‘struggle kid’ Frieda Ndatipo this week by the police at a demonstration at the Swapo head office in Windhoek.
