ECN's Otjozondjupa Regional Coordinator, LaimiOnesmus in an interview with Nampa on Tuesday said the first day of the exercise on Monday impressed her team with a good turn out number of new qualifying Namibians who received their voter cards.

The turn out impressed us on the first day of the supplementary registration, as we issued out nearly 700 voter cards in the whole region, she said.

Otavi Constituency issued the highest voter cards of 141, followed by Otjiwarongo with 125.

Grootfontein 120, Okakarara 118, Okahandja 91, Tsumkwe 51 and 30 in the Omatako Constituency.

No major challenges has been experienced so far, Onesmus said.

The ECN coordinator said that most of these newly registered Namibian voters had turned 18 years, lost their voter cards, changed constituencies or personal details.

The 2019 supplementary voter registration is set to run from 08 to 27 July to enable new qualifying Namibians to obtain their voters' cards that will help them participate in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections planned for November this year.
