Swapo electoral college in full swing

The Swapo electoral college, an exercise that will elect the 96 candidates on the ruling party list for the National Assembly, is currently underway in the capital.

Known as the 'pot', the event was officially opened Saturday by the party leader, President Hage Geingob, who indicated that the ruling party was at a crossroads and advised those participating to vote for individuals based on merit.

He reminded Swapo's current parliamentarians that retaining their positions was not guaranteed.

He said if their records were good, people would send them back, but if they underperformed, Swapo would deal with them.

The actual voting was expected to commence around 15h00 today with the results expected to be announced during the early hours of tomorrow morning.
