The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) has commenced with stage one, the physical fitness test, of the ongoing recruitment process today in various regions across the country.

Senior Chief Correctional Officer of the Subdivision of Sports and Culture in the Khomas Region, Kennedy Kalweya, who facilitates the fitness test at Independence Stadium, said the test kicked off at 07h00 today for shortlisted candidates that fall in the 18 to 26 year age category.

He did address the concerns expressed on whether candidates should attend the physical fitness tests with their Certificate of Conduct, adding that it is no longer a precondition, but will be a requirement for the final selected candidates.

“With these physical exercises we don’t need the Certificate of Conduct as this is only for the final selected candidates,” he said.

Candidates of 26 years and above along with the sports candidates are expected to report at the different venues in various regions from 20 to 21 January.

NCS is currently in the process of recruiting 200 prison service officers.
