The 28-year-old woman who died Sunday night at Otjiwarongo after she was allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend, suffered 13 stab wounds on her back, shoulder, chest and left elbow.

Namibian Police Force Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the deceased, identified as Auguste Jonas, died in her bed where she was allegedly attacked in the Telecom informal settlement.

Mbeha said 10 deep stab wounds were recorded on her back, one on her right shoulder, another in her right chest and another wound on her left elbow.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the incident occurred after the boyfriend allegedly found Jonas at her house with another man at approximately 20h45 on Sunday.

The 31-year-old suspect had fled the scene after the incident but was arrested in the same informal area later that night, stated Mbeha.

“The suspect will be charged with murder before Tuesday, and consequently make his first court appearance in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday,” she said.

Police investigations continue.
