Three arrested for killing lions

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Sesfontein area, Kunene Region has arrest three suspects who allegedly killed four lions after poisoning them.

According to the police report issued on Monday, the suspects fed three males and one female lions with poisoned meat on Saturday.

It noted that after the lions were discovered dead, NamPol members followed foot prints which led to a house in the area, where game meat of a Zebra and an Oryx was found hidden in shoes that matched the footprints at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism condemned the action and called on the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, in a statement issued on Monday.

This is a very unfortunate event, we call on farmers and members of the public to refrain from such action, it reads.

It noted that further investigation into the matter continues and hope that the law will take it course.
