Three-year-old baby girl raped in Okahandja

OTJIWARONGO: A three-year-old baby girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy at the boys’ parent house in Okahandja during the 15 and 16 January 2014.

The Otjozondjupa Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on enquire on Sunday that the two were seen on 15 and 16 January 2014 playing together at the suspect’s parents’ house in Okahandja.

It is suspected that when the two entered the garage, the boy allegedly forced himself on top of the girl and raped her.

Mbeha said the girl started to show signs of pain to her private parts last Friday while she and her mother were in Otjiwarongo where they had travelled to.

That same Friday, it is alleged the victim baby was taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical assessment.

“At the hospital, the doctor confirmed that the baby was raped,” Mbeha said.

A case of rape under CR no. 78/01/2014 has been opened at the Okahandja Police Station.

The 15-year-old suspected boy is also a neighbour of the victim girl in Okahandja.

He was arrested on Saturday and charged for rape.

He was released into parental care on Saturday.

He is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations continue.
