A one-year-old boy allegedly drowned in a bucket of water at Omatako village in the Tsumkwe Constituency on Monday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Wednesday the deceased was officially identified Tuesday morning as Mushimba Amakaku.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that Amakaku was left playing alone at home when his mother exited the house around 17h40 on Monday.

“After the mother left the house, the baby allegedly fell into the bucket of water and he died,” said Mbeha.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
