Tom Alweendo calls for good leadership in football in order to acquire exceptional talent which can represent Namibia well

Mines and Energy Minister, Tom Alweendo, has called for good leadership in football in order to acquire exceptional talent which can represent Namibia well.

Speaking at the recent launch of the sixth edition of the Skorpion Zinc Under-17 tournament in Windhoek, the minister stressed that bad leadership is not good for sports and called on those involved to carefully select their leaders.

Alweendo stated that bad leadership might lead to young Namibians losing opportunities in sports.

Quoting American author Octavia Butler, Alweendo said the NFA must choose their leaders with wisdom and forethought, because to be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.

His comments come at a time when the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) seconded a Normalisation Committee in February to run the affairs of the NFA following a protracted power struggle between former president FransMbidi and secretary general Barry Rukoro.
