Tom and Jerry wins KASU’s Nefie Kandjii’s tourney

Newly formed Tom and Jerry from Katutura won the football category of the eighth edition of the Katutura Sports Union's (KASU) Nefie Kandjii Cup at Khomasdal Stadium on Sunday.

The knockout tournament saw 18 football and 14 netball teams competing for N.dollars N. dollars 25 000.

Okarui Swallows defeated their Epukiro-based counterparts Pamue Eleven 1-0 in the first semi-final match last weekend to book their place in the final.

However, Tom and Jerry locked horns with Epukiro-based Otjimati of which they won 4-3 after two all draw in the second semi-final on Sunday.

Tom and Jerry then won the Nefie Kandjii Cup after they defeated Okarui Swallows 2 -1 in the final to walk away with N.dollars 5 000, a trophy plus 12 gold medals.

The runners-up Okarui Swallows pocketed N.dollars 3 000 plus 12 silver medals whereas Otjimati and Pamue Eleven pocketed N.dollars 2 000 each as losing semi-finalists.

In another football competition, Okauua Rovers defeated Black Beauty 1-0 to win the fifth edition of the Otjinene Sport and Culture Association's annual President tournament final.

Okauua Rovers pocketed N.dollars 8 000, a trophy and 20 gold medals while Black Beauty took N.dollars 4 500 and 20 silver medals as runners-up.

Okazapamba and Ozombovire each took home N. dollars 2 500 semi-final losers.
