Truck Carrying Exam Papers Collides

A TRUCK carrying a consignment of Grade 10 final exam papers for five different subjects collided head-on with another truck about 20km from Windhoek on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson, deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, said both drivers died on the scene, while one passenger later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. He said the deceased were identified as Hendrick Jacobus Hertzog (47), Benjamin Imanuel (43) and Moses Hashane (33).

Kanguatjivi said arrangements were made with the Ministry of Education and the papers were transferred into another truck.

Education Minister David Namwandi confirmed that the papers were transported safely from the accident scene.

Namwandi said there was no damage caused to the papers and there was no box opened, which could lead to a leak.

“The police responded promptly and got to the accident site on time. There was no box damaged, neither opened. The papers were safely rescued and they are very safe,” he said.
