Truck driver escapes accident unharmed

A truck carrying nine vehicles in a trailer overturned on the Swakopmund/Arandis road on Monday.

According to a police report issued by Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Ersatus Iikuyu on Tuesday, the truck which was coming from Walvis Bay headed to Botswana overturned when the driver, a 29 year-old Motswana national who was alone in the vehicle, lost control of it.

The accident took place at around 25 kilometres before Arandis from Swakopmund.

The driver escaped the accident unharmed and not sustain any injuries.

All the vehicles on the truck were damaged. The value of the damage has not yet been determined.

In an unrelated matter, the police in Erongo Region are on a search for a stolen vehicle which was stolen from a residence in Walvis Bay on Monday.

The unknown culprit/s allegedly forced the door of the flat open with suspected steel bar which was found at the scene, entered the place and stole the car keys and a television valued at N. dollars 3500.

The stolen vehicle is a Ford Ranger double cab with registration number N 750-426 WB, valued at N. dollars 380 000.

The complainant is 37 year old Tuyenikelao Ndeshipanda Gabriel.

No recovery made yet and no arrest.

Investigations continue.
