Tses to host seventh edition of Spring Tournament

The village of Tses in the ||Kharas Region will host the seventh edition of the 2019 Spring Soccer Tournament from 04 to 06 October.

The tournament's organiser, Thomas Tsuseb in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the tournament is aimed at keeping young people entertained and bring football to the football starved resident of the southern village.

We are also trying to groom unknown players to first division teams by allowing them to showcase their talents against the experienced guys. This year we expect more teams compared to the 30 we had last year, Tsuseb noted.

The football tournament is open to national second and third division teams and non-league teams, with each team allowed to use two first division players during matches.

The first edition of the tournament was won by Tses Football Club in 2013, with Young Beauties from Keetmanshoop winning the three subsequent editions, while Jerusalem from Keetmanshoop won the 2017 edition and Black Arrows clinching the 2018 edition.

The winners will receive N.dollars 25 000 in cash, a floating trophy and 25 gold medals.

Runners-up will walk away with N.dollars 15 000 and 25 silver medals.

Semi-final losers will each receive N.dollars 2 500, while the top goal scorer will be rewarded with N.dollars 1 000, best goalkeeper will get a trophy, while the best discliplined team will walk away with a trophy and match ball

A 'Langarm Dance' by BB Connection and Hot Brothers will precede the tournament on Friday, while on Saturday evening a 'Ms. Spring Beauty Pageant will take place where each team will be represented by a contestant.

During the day Deejay Waxi from Keetmanshoop will entertain the football lovers during match breaks.

Tsuseb called on football lovers in the surrounding areas to come out in numbers and cheer their teams on.

It is not only about football, but a chance for young upcoming business people to sell their food stuff during the course of the tournament, he concluded.
