Tura Magic dominates WSL awards

Tura Magic Football Club dominated the 2019 Skorpin Zink Namibia Football Association Women's League (WSL) awards when their players took most of top prizes during the awards a ceremony in Windhoek on Friday evening.

Defender Emma Naris won the best player of the season accolade while striker Anne-Marie Shikusho took away the top goal scorer awards after she scored 29 goals during the season.

Magic coach ShamaGure was named coach of the season, with goalkeeper Melissa Matheus walking away with the goal keeper of the season award, to complete a memorable night for the Magicians.

Naris beat fellow Brave Warriors defender NdapewaKatuta and Galz and Goals young striker Beverly Uueziua in the player of the season category.

An elated Naris said the award would motivate her to perform better.

I'm very happy to receive this award. If it wasn't for my teammates, I wouldn't be able to be in this position. So, a big thank you to them. I will definitely work hard for my team and hope that we keep winning, Naris said.

However the two runners up were then crowned Players player of the season and Young player of the season respectively.

Other winners of the night saw former Gladiators winger VistorinaShangula win VistoriaShangula win best match official, while Antoinette Tsuses received the Best Manager award.

Namib Daughters, from Gobabis were named team of the season, while HelgeSchutz was named journalist of season for his in-depth coverage of the women's game.

These were the first ever woman's football awards to be held in Namibia following financial support from Skorpion Zink who have invested N.dollars One million for the next two season, in a bid to improve women's football.

The event was graced by Minister of Youth, Sport and National Service Erastus Uutoni who called on for the equal treatment of women and man in sports.
