Turkey’s development assistance to partner countries, donated five 10 000-litre water tanks

The Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA), the only governmental institution responsible for delivering Turkey's development assistance to partner countries, donated five 10 000-litre water tanks to the Omusati Region's Tsandi Constituency.

Deputy Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, Lucia Iipumbu approached TIKA and other institutions to donate water tanks to the Tsandi communities who reported to her earlier this year that they are faced with serious water scarcity.

TIKA's Coordinator in Namibia, Ozlem Guvenc yesterday handed over the donation at the occasion held at Amaupa village in the presence of Iipumbu, leader of the Uukwaluudhi Tradional Authority (UTA) Josia Shikongo Taapopi and Omusati regional councillor for the Tsandi Constituency Junias Amunkete.

Guvenc pointed out that the five water tanks will be utilised in the areas of Oluhalu, Amaupa, Okatseidhi East, Iitatu and Ombwata B villages.

She added that in addition to drought relief assistance, TIKA is in the process of providing support in water and solar energy provision, through drilling a water borehole in Nyondo West of the Kavango East Region.
