Two alleged suicides reported in Otjozondjupa

The Otjozondjupa police are investigating two separate alleged suicide cases which both occurred Sunday evening at Outjo and Osire.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Monday said a 35-year-old Eugene Nepembe who resided at Farm Tsumis outside Outjo was on Sunday evening found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck at the farm.

The deceased was a farmworker on the farm and his close relatives have been informed, Mbeha said.

It is alleged Nepembe had gone missing on Friday, but his colleagues did not report to the police only to find his body hanging from a tree on Sunday evening at about 19h00 on the farm.

In a separate incident, Mbeha said a 29-year-old woman,Haure Pauline Namvhura also allegedly committed suicide by hanging with a rope inside her sleeping room on Sunday evening at about 20h00.

The body of Namvhura was found by a relative on Farm Ouhave situated about 15 kilometres east of Osire Refugee Settlement.

The police officer said no suicide notes were found in both cases.

The police have so far opened separate inquest dockets in connection with these two suicide reports.
