The Namibia Police Force (NamPol) on Saturday arrested and charged two suspects with the murder of a police officer at the Kuisebmund residential area in Walvis Bay.

In an incident report issued on Sunday, NamPol said the charges of murder, robbery and attempted robbery were added after it was discovered during preliminary investigations that the suspects allegedly took the deceased’s cellphone and attempted to rob the deceased’s girlfriend.

The suspects, two males aged 21 and 25, are expected to make their first appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A 25-year-old Namibian male who was also detained earlier for questioning, was released.

NamPol earlier reported that the deceased, identified as 29-year-old Asser Dominicus, was stabbed to death while walking home with his girlfriend on Saturday.

His next of kin have been informed of his death and police investigations into the matter continue.
