Two die after vehicle rams into shack in Windhoek

A man and woman, aged 49 and 40 respectively, died on Saturday after a pick-up drove into their shack in Windhoek.

The accident occurred in Bishop Kamburona Street around 03h00, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) said in its weekend crime report issued on Sunday.

It is alleged that the driver of a grey Toyota double cab drove into the corrugated iron shack where the man and woman were sleeping.

They died on the scene, while the driver allegedly fled the scene in another vehicle.

The deceased’s next of kin were informed of their deaths and police investigations into the matter continue.

In an unrelated incident at Oshakati, a 26-year-old man was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of cannabis valued at N.dollars 2 600 on Saturday.

He was expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
