Two die in stolen vehicle at Okapya

Two people died in a car accident at Okapya location in the district of Ondangwa after the stolen vehicle they were travelling in overturned on Saturday.

Namibian Police Force spokesperson for the Oshana Region, Thomas Aiyambo, said in a crime report issued on Monday that the vehicle was reported stolen in Ongwediva on Friday at about 23h00 and the deceased persons are suspected to have been involved in a robbery case.

“The silver Toyota Corolla was stolen at knifepoint by three unknown men from a victim at Ongwediva town, and was only recovered when it overturned at Okapya location in the district of Ondangwa,” Aiyambo said.

One of the suspects died on the spot, the other one died later at the hospital, while one disappeared from the Onandjokwe hospital after they were taken there by ambulance.

The deceased bodies were transported to the Oshakati police mortuary and investigation continues.
