The police in the Hardap Region arrested two men on Monday after they were allegedly found in possession of cannabis valued at N.dollars 47 650.

A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Tuesday said the suspects are aged 40 and 58. They were arrested on Farm Marino in Gibeon around 15h00 after they were allegedly found with cannabis weighing 3 665 grams in total in their possession.

It indicated that one of the suspects hid cannabis in a 20 litre bucket underground.

“The suspects were arrested after a routine police search. We urge communities to bring forward information to the police related to drugs and other crimes,” the crime report said.

It further said drug dealing poses a serious challenge in the Hardap Region and community involvement is not high as activities of such nature continue to go unreported.

The suspects were expected to appear in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and police investigations continue.
