Two men arrested for alleged rape of minors

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl with special needs in the Kavango East Region, the Namibian Police have reported.

The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday the incident occurred at Shimpanda village around 20h00.

It is alleged that the suspect took the victim to his room under coercive circumstances.

Police investigations into the matter continue.

In another rape incident at Ncushe village, a 25-year-old man was arrested on the same day for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

It is alleged that the suspect abducted the victim from her school and kept her in his room, where he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

He threatened to kill her if she reports the incident to anyone.

Both suspects are expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
