Two people die in accident on Rehoboth-Windhoek road

WINDHOEK: Two people died on Tuesday as a result of a fatal road crash which took place some 20 kilometres from Rehoboth on the Rehoboth/Windhoek main road.

The accident took place on Tuesday evening at about 18h00.

In a media statement availed to Nampa here on Wednesday afternoon, ​Kapena Tjombonde who is the Chief Corporate Affairs of the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund said the accident that claimed the lives of the two people involves two motor vehicles- a single-cab Toyota bakkie and a minibus.

The two deceased people, whose identities cannot be made public at the time as the police are yet to inform their family and relatives, were all passengers in the minibus.

Other 12 persons were injured.

A total of 14 persons were involved in the said accident, noted Tjombonde.

Police investigations are now under way to establish the exact circumstances that led to the accident and loss of lives.
