The carcasses of two white rhinos were on Wednesday discovered on a private game farm north of Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region.

The Namibian Police Force’s Community Affairs Liaison Officer in the region, Warrant Officer Olivia Haihambo, in an interview with Nampa on Thursday said the carcasses were discovered on the farm by workers.

“The horns were removed by the suspects. We suspect the poaching might have taken place between 03 and 06 March,” she said, adding that the combined value of the animals is N.dollars 840 000.

No arrest has been made so far and a case of hunting specially protected game was opened at the Okahandja Police Station.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
